The city manager shall have entire control and supervision of the administration of the city. All appointive officers and employees of the city shall be subordinate to the city manager, except the city clerk, city assessor, boards of election inspectors and their respective subordinates and employees.

Rob Spreitzer’s commitment to public service and passion for Gladstone have been decades in the making. A graduate of Gladstone High School’s Class of 1990, Rob has dedicated much of his professional life to serving the community he proudly calls home.

Rob began his career in the water industry working in both Tawas City and Menominee, Michigan, under a contract operations company, gaining valuable hands-on experience in municipal water systems and public utilities. In 1995, he joined the City of Gladstone, beginning what would become a remarkable 30-year career of service to the community.

Over the years, Rob has held a variety of roles with the City, including summer help, water operator, and Water Superintendent. Through each position, he earned a reputation for being dependable, hardworking, and deeply knowledgeable about the operations that keep the city running smoothly. His decades of experience have given him a strong understanding of Gladstone’s infrastructure, daily operations, and long-term needs.

Now stepping into the role of City Manager, Rob brings with him not only extensive institutional knowledge, but also a genuine passion for Gladstone and its future. Having worked his way through multiple levels of city operations, he understands the importance of teamwork, communication, and thoughtful leadership. His vision for the city is rooted in maintaining strong public services while continuing to move Gladstone forward in a positive and sustainable way.

Rob’s leadership style is practical, approachable, and community-focused. He values collaboration and believes in leading by example. Colleagues and staff know him as someone who listens carefully, works steadily through challenges, and always keeps the best interests of the community at heart.

As Gladstone continues to grow and evolve, Rob is excited to help guide the city into its next chapter. His dedication to public service, combined with his lifelong connection to the community, make him exceptionally well suited for the role of City Manager.
